The literature revealed three overall themes. First, fluency is an integral skill for students. Second, fluency is a skill that needs to be taught, modeled and practiced during and sometimes beyond elementary school. Lastly, repeated readings are an important strategy used to increase a student’s reading fluency.
The purpose of this case study is to look at the effect of using the app iTalk to increase reading fluency scores. Students will record themselves reading a passage, then listen to themselves read in the attempt to increase reading fluency scores. Does student use of the iTalk app to record and listen to reading passages help increase reading fluency?
